Despite the fact that I think my oral surgeon may have broken my jaw removing my wisdom teeth, and that the vicodin just ain't cutting it at the moment, I still needed to post about something.

A woman looses her son in battle. A battle that doesn't make much sense, but nonetheless it's his job to fight for his country when he is called to duty, and he does so valiantly. And in the call of duty, his life is tragically cut short.

His mother, heartbroken, is now on a crusade to speak out against the circumstances that took her son's life. And as an American citizen, she expresses her First Amendment right to free speech and assembly. In the process of expressing her Constitutional rights at an open-to-the-public rally for Laura Bush, she is promptly arrested by Secret Service for making poor, Prozac'd out Laura loose her place in her speech. Luckily, Laura's mindless, braying crowds manage to drown out the mother's cries with chants of "Four More Years". One particularly sensitive individual posited, "Your son volunteered to fight".

Apparently, right-wing mothers only care about children when they are fetuses in danger of being aborted. Once those children are out of the womb, they’re on their own!

Honestly, where is the so-called “compassion” in these conservatives? Where is the brotherly, or motherly, love in these christians? I think about this story and the mission of this poor woman trying to speak out against the war that took the life of her son, and am just speechless at the callousness of these people.

There is a reason why the crowds at Bush/Cheney events are so carefully vetted and why everyone and anyone is allowed to participate in Kerry/Edwards rallies. Democrats are able to respond to all viewpoints and, even when we don’t agree with you, can be sympathetic to your point of view. When Kerry is heckled at his events, he can respond with class and aplomb. A demonstrator at a Bush event, on the other hand, would throw the speaker off his or her carefully crafted script. And bob knows you couldn’t expect to see any compassion or empathy out of this ruling class and their brainwashed minions. Because this President doesn’t represent all Americans, don’tchaknow. He represents the ones who happen to think just like he does, and there’s no room for exceptions.
